Overview

The South Omo Valley Ethiopia Tour is a captivating 7-night/8-day journey that immerses you in the diverse cultures and stunning landscapes of Ethiopia. Starting in Addis Ababa, you’ll explore the city’s historic treasures before driving to Arbaminch, where you can enjoy the breathtaking views of Abijata and Shala Lakes. The tour takes you to various villages, including Chencha and Turmi, where you’ll witness colorful markets and interact with tribes such as Ari, Bena, and Hamer.

You’ll also visit the Mago National Park and the village of the Mursi people. The tour concludes with a visit to Hawassa before returning to Addis Ababa.

Tour Plan

On arrival in Addis Ababa you will be met at the airport and transferred to the hotel.  Addis was founded in 1886 by Menelik II, and situated at an elevation of around 2438m which makes third highest capital city in the world. Addis Ababa enjoys an excellent climate all year round, with an average temperature of 25°C. we will start our site-seeing by National museum which houses some of the country's historic treasures. The collection of fossils and bones of early hominids discovered in Ethiopia include the 3.5-million-year-old remains of 'Lucy', the oldest hominid every found. Proceed visiting to the two major highlights of the city, the Ethnographic Museum and the church of the Holy Trinity, Ethiopia's main cathedral and home to the remains of the last emperor, Haile Selassie.

Overnight in Azzemaine Hotel.

In the morning directly drive to Arbaminch and enjoy more of the Rift Valley landscape and the stunning views over the Lakes of Abijata and Shala. We have the possibility of visiting the Ostrich farm at Abijata Shala National Park. In the afternoon, we will relax on the shore of Lake Arbaminch, a side resort for our overnight.Overnight at Haile Resort.
After an early breakfast, we will directly Drive to Arbaminch, VISIT Village and Doraze for a visit to the up-mountain village of Chencha; the village of Dorzae peoples (dorzaeare very well known for their beehive structure home and handcrafts). Drive back to Arbaminch an Afternoon Boat trip on Lake Chamo for a visit of the crocodile market. Take about a cruise on Lake Chamo. At the spot called “azo gebeya” or crocodile market, a huge concentration of crocodiles, herds of hippos as well as many species of birds can be observed.   Overnight at Haile Resort.
Early morning drive to Konso where colourfully costumed dress, impressive terracing of the land and unusually engraved wooden statues used as grave markers can be seen. Differing from their neighbours, the Konso are pure agriculturists, famed for their use of the stone terraces that they utilise to such good effect in this dry and barren region of basalt hills. Originally from the east and speaking an east Cushitic language, the Konso live in settlements that are surrounded by stone walls. The age of each town is classified by a generation pole and each family lives in compounds that are accessible only through gateways that require the visitor to enter on all fours thereby rendering any potential attackers vulnerable. Keep driving to Turim for the colourful Monday market where we should see and photograph the Ari, Bena, and Hamer people. The Bena and Hamer women usually favour red clay braids in their hair, shiny with butter and perfumed with incense. The long beaded skirts of the Tsemay have a stick incorporated in the back to denote a married woman and the men have elaborately plaited hairstyles decorated with feathers and colourful beads. After visiting the market, we drive on to Turmi, often called the gateway to the Omo Valley. Overnight at Buska Lodge.
In the morning Drive to omorate, for a visit of Dasnech people with crossing the Omo river by small local boats with having a walk also in the villages. Drive back to Turmi and have lunch at the Big tree shadows. Reach in Turmi and in the afternoon, Demake Markets are a very nice place to meet different Omo valley tribes in harmony and visit the fascinating Turmi hammer village. Late in the afternoon Drive to Jinka on the way visit are very nice place to meet different Omo valley tribes in harmony. Continue the drive to Jinka while visiting the Bena tribes of the Omo Valley. Reach in Jinka for an Overnight at Jinka Eco omo Lodge.
After an early breakfast drive to Mago national park, home of the big game view wild life for a visit and continue drive to Murci people’s village near by the park for a visit of their life style and culture. In the afternoon drive, back to Jinka and visit the Jinka Ethnographic museum, Drive to visit the fascinating Kay Afer Market. Markets are very nice places to meet different Omo valley tribes in harmony.Afternoon Drive to Arbaminch with having lunch at the afternoon Konso in arbaminch Overnight at Haile Resort.
In the morning drive from ArbaMinch to Awssa, On the way visit different lifestyles in some villages. Awassa is a lakeside city and you will see Fifteenth Birds, a traditional fish market.Overnight Ossis Hotel.
Drive from Hawassa to Addis Ababa, on the way you will visit the Tiya World Heritage site. Arrive in Addis in the late afternoon. After some shopping and leisure time in the evening you will have an exclusive fare well dinner party to which you will be invited by our company, during this you will get a chance to see Ethiopian music with dance too. Then, transfer to the airport for your departure to Home. Tour End!
