Overview
Experience an adventurous 4-night bike tour through the captivating South Guragae tribe in Ethiopia. This immersive journey takes you off the beaten path, allowing you to explore the unique culture and stunning landscapes of the Guragae region. Begin your tour with a city tour of Addis Ababa, visiting museums and historic landmarks. Then, embark on a bike ride from Welkitae to Hamartia, camping near Hawariat. Explore various Guragae villages, witnessing their traditional way of life and sampling their special food, “kocho.” Ride through forests and visit a beautiful waterfall on your way to Enor Ener. This tour will end with a visit to the Tiya World Heritage site before returning to Addis Ababa for a farewell dinner.
Tour Plan
On arrival in Addis Ababa you will be met at the airport and transferred to the hotel. Addis was founded in 1886 by Menelik II, and situated at an elevation of around 2438m which makes it third highest capital city in the world. Addis Ababa enjoys an excellent climate all year around, with an average temperature of 25°C. we will start our sightseeing at the National Museum which houses some of the country's historic treasures. The collection of fossils and bones of early hominids discovered in Ethiopia includes the 3.5-million-year-old remains of 'Lucy', the oldest hominid ever found. Proceed to visit the two major highlights of the city, the Ethnographic Museum and the church of the Holy Trinity, Ethiopia's main cathedral and home to the remains of the last emperor, Haile Selassie.
Early in the morning drive to Welkitae then ride 20 kilometres from Welkitae to Hawariat. camp close to Hawariat in the heart of the Gurage region.
Overnight Hawariat Community Campsite.
Here we arrangement amazing camping arrangement. The dinner will be ready with the professional chafe and served.
In the morning after breakfast ride to different Guragae villages. Each village ride from 25 -30 Kms enjoying an amazing landscape. In the villages, we will visit different cultures of the Guragae tribe and the preparation of their special food “kocho” which is prepared from the root of a plant called “Enset”.
The other thing we visit is their unique and amazing house architecture.
Overnight Hawariat Community Campsite.
In the morning after breakfast ride 60 Km from Hawariat to Enor Ener through the forest then visit a waterfall. On the way, we will have a pick nick lunch.
Overnight Enor Ener community campsite.
In the morning after breakfast drive to Addis Ababa. on the way, you will visit the Tiya World Heritage site. Arrive Addis in the late afternoon. After some shopping and leisure time in the evening you will have an exclusive fare well dinner party to which you will be invited by our company, during this you will get a chance to see Ethiopian music with dance too. Then, transfer to the airport for your departure to Home. Tour End!
